The Chandler Public Library is operated by the city of Chandler with
additional funding from Henderson County. The library was first established in a broken
down book mobile in 1983 and later moved to a building on Broad Street in 1987.
In 1996, the community raised money to build the new facility on State Highway 31.
Until 2010, it was a branch of the Henderson County Clint W. Murchison Memorial Library.
The library has recently received notification that it has met state standards
required to participate in TexShare and other programs offered by the Texas State Library.
The library is also the home to a collection of books and items from former US Senator Ralph Yarborough's
estate including documents detailing his presence in President John Kennedy's motorcade the day
of his assassination in Dallas. Other displays include items of interest from Chandler's history.
